About Me

Desi K. Robinson: Journalist/arts educator/foodie. Rooted in culture, education, lifestyle and entertainment, Desi has been inspired by the stories of children she’s met around the world. She’s taught and mentored children throughout NYC, Canada and Ecuador and has produced and co-authored several children’s musicals and story-book play adaptations. She created What’s Cookin’ in the World, Miss Desi? © a kid-friendly cooking program with an international flair that incorporates music, maps, dance and language to address the bevy of health issues plaguing today’s youth, including childhood obesity. Desi is currently exploring nutrition and the connection between food and wellness while apprenticing at Natural Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts. She holds an MBA in media management from Metropolitan College of New York and a BA in Communication from the University of Hartford. Desi sits on the board of award-winning Children’s Theatre Company in NYC and is a reporter for WBAI Radio in NYC and Rice N Peas magazine in London, where she’s written articles on the ever-changing ideals of beauty, music, hip-hop culture, politics and fame.
